What is the best way to make money from photography?

I’m interested in wildlife and landscape photography and was wondering where I can perhaps sell my photography.

I’ve seen online websites that take a commission where one can sell photographs but they are royalty-free.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

How to make money with a photography flash kit?

I’m a photography student, and I’ve just bought a flash kit. The ones at our uni are always broken or booked out and I live an hr and a half away, so I just snapped and bought one. Alas. I couldn’t afford a battery for the kit too… So I’m a little restricted. The main problem is, I was doing the maths and I just don’t think I can afford to keep the kit unless I can find a way for it to start paying for itself. I’m going to sell one of my lenses in the mean time. But… yeah. It needs to make some money.

I lack confidence to put myself out there for big jobs, but I wondered what ideas people have for smaller jobs that a student such as myself could undertake. Maybe there’s a market niche I’m unaware of. Or novel ideas, like renting the kit out (of course I’d have to go with the kit, since i wouldn’t trust anyone with it… kit rental + free assistant lets say).
I’m hoping as I progress I’ll gain more confidence, but right now. I’m thinking basic shoots, that a monkey… I mean… a student like me. Could handle.

I do have an online stock photography account, but I’m not really sure what would be be a good idea to photograph for that. All thoughts welcome.

Thanks. Be nice =]

How to advertise Photography Business during holidays with a very tight budget?

So, I’m a photographer who’s just starting out. Although, I’ve been taking photos for my children, friends, and family members for a while now. This has been something in the making for a while now. I wanted to take my time and not be just another person with a digital camera. I’m finally ready to spread my wings! I have pretty all the equipment I need known to man. Right now, things are pretty tight for us as far as marketing my services, getting materials printed, having signs made, online advertising, local paper, etc.

I want to go after family and pets. Especially pet lovers! I need ideas of how I can advertise my services on a shoestring budget? I know it takes money to make money. Especially when looking for qualified candidates that are looking to hand me their money. Any creative ideas? At least to get a couple of paid sessions to help fund before the holiday progresses.
I realize you can be the best carpenter there is but if you are not advertising your services no one can find you. Same for having a website. You can have a website but if you’re not advertising to the right group of folk..they are unable to find your site. Please help! Thanks!

Starting a photography business…?

What is an easy, fast, cheap (preferably free) way to get my photography business moving? Really, all I’m looking to do right now is get noticed, get a few jobs, and build my client base.. oh, and build my portfolio (an ongoing expedition).

Here’s some more info on the type of photography I do if anyone has any specific ideas for how to get started and be successful:
I’m actually still in college (Marketing and Management major).. I’m open to suggestions on taking photography classes. Online, also, even though I’m still a little iffy about that.

I do concert photography, landscape, and possibly some wedding portraits (I have a friend that wants me to photograph her wedding, so we’ll see how that works out)

My sister does portraits (helping models develop their portfolios)

So yes, I need lots and lots of advice on this because I’m going crazy!
