I have started a home based computer repair business and I need a credit card to make purchases from my online supplier. The problem I am having is not that I have “bad credit”, but instead that I have no credit history at all. I need a credit card to make purchases over the Internet be approved and delivered faster. I would only be using the credit card to make purchases of hardware that I would immediately be selling to the customer when making my repairs. What type of card should I apply for that I might have a chance to be approved for? How can I explain to a credit card company that I am only making purchases that I will immediately be reimbursed by my customer? What will make me more likely to be approved by a credit card company even though I have no credit history? I have already had one customer, and I am awaiting another. I am 28 years old and haven’t had a job in a while, but I have the money to buy the hardware. Not having a credit card is making the delivery and approval of my purchases too slow.
I’ve been out of work since the end of May last year & since then I have been applying for jobs but not getting anywhere. I have gotten some feedback from the roles I’ve applied for & the one thing that keeps coming up is the unexplained gap in my CV. In the time I have been out of work I have done some volunteer work in my local community, I have started an online course & I have also helped my dad set up his new business i.e the marketing side of things. The problem I’m having is I don’t know how to explain this on my CV, do I put it in the CV itself & where, do I just explain it in the cover letter or do I put it in both. I would really appreciate any advice & tips on how to address this.
After I was made redundant in 2009, I worked for a company for 6 months on a contract basis & have included this role in my employment history. The company wasn’t in a position to keep me on full-time as they were making staff redundant. Therefore all temporary staff were let go once their contracts were up. Since then I have been applying for jobs everywhere I can. I have been applying for volunteer work & other temp work but not having much look on that front either as everyone who can’t get a job seems to be applying for volunteer work as well.
04/15/11 – Hey. I managed to speak to someone that works in HR who was able to help me. I had previously paid to have my CV professionally written so he said that my CV was good, well laid out & easy to read. Some of the tips he gave me was to say that I am currently working as a free-lance/self employed Marketing Executive, add the name of the company & make it look like it’s for a specific company & not my Dad. He said if it comes up in an interview just explain that is an adhoc role & I am now looking for something more challenging & that while I enjoyed working freelance, it’s not for me. He also said that I should include accomplishments & achievements like the types & values of projects I have worked on etc. I also need to shorten my CV – at the moment it’s 5 pages including my Cover Letter. He said that this should be 3 but it would be ok to stretch it to 4 given the amount of experience I have. The HR manager also told me that I need to make sure my work experience is in past
