Earn Money From Videos

Today I will present you three video platforms that will pay you either for sharing videos you like or even for your own creations.

Video platforms like Youtube or Google Video have a constantly increasing number of videos in their databases, everyday thousands of new video files are added to those big media hosts. It also seems, that there are many creative people (and also a lot of funny ones) which make quality videos but don´t receive a single cent for all their hard work. Maybe they have choosen the wrong platform for publishing their material? I think a great portion of them don´t really know how to get revenues for sharing their creativity.

But it´s definitely possible to earn money with videos. There are some nice video platforms that pay its members for videos they produced themselfes and even for videos from other people (as you´ll see in the last paragraph).

Earn Money from Embedded Advertisements

The first video sharing website I´ll talk about is Revver. Revver was officially launched in November 2005 and became very popular over time. Basically Revver monetizes user generated videos with embedded advetisements. They therefore use Apple QuickTime and Flash as their video formats. The advertisements are integrated in the form of interactive banners you can click on, which will show up at the end of the video clip. Whenever such an advertisement is clicked by anyone watching the video, the video creator gets paid 50% of ad revenues. This even works if the video is shared on different video platforms or watched “offline”, the clicks on those ads will be tracked (as long as their is an open internet connection).

The best paid video so far was from two guys making funny things with Coke and Mentos. They made around $30,000 with 11,000,000 views.

To submit a video you can create a free account on their site, but notice you have to be the creator of the video clip. After submitting your clip, it will get “revverized”, meaning an trackable advertisement is attached at the end of your clip that fits best with your content. All you have to do is promote your video and, if it´s a good one, see your earnings rise.

Earn Money from Views

If you´ll see Revver as kind of a Pay-Per-Click revenue model, than Metacafe is Pay-Per-View, each time your video is viewed, you´ll get paid. Metacafe is a really nice video sharing platform with actually great content on it. The site is more about tutorials or do-it-yourself video clips than fun stuff as seen on Youtube for example. I really enjoy this site for its creative content all the users submit each day.

You can upload your own video creations and submit them to the so called “Producer Rewards”, a sub-section on Metacafe that lets you earn revenues from your clips. The rules are simple, you must be the creator of the video and your clip must receive a good rating from other members of the site. If your video clip is a good one and you reach 20,000 views, you´ll get paid $5 for every 1,000 views.

A well know person on Metacafe is “Kipkay”, who earned the incredible amount of nearly $75,000 so far (and it keeps growing). I like his videos for its creativity. Here´s one of his (many) clips:

You see, it can be really easy to make money if you have some great ideas ;-)

Earn Money from Sharing Video Clips

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there´s even the possibility to make some bucks only from sharing other people´s videos and Flixya is definitely the best place to do this. Flixya lets you share not only video clips, but also photos. You can also make money from blog posts (you can start your own one there).

Flixya is like a social networking site. You can make friends, share your favorite web clips and write blog posts and comments. Each piece of content you provide on Flixya will be surrounded with Google Ads and you get 100% (yes one hundred percent) of ad revenues generated from other people clicking those ads. All you need is a Google Adsense account and your publisher ID, which will be placed in the ad code (yes, and a lot of good videos that attract many people ;-) .

I hope this article would be helpful to every video creator or video lover who likes to make some money from his hobbies. Feel free to post comments and links to really nice video clips (maybe your own ones?).

Keep on watching and Bye Bye!
