StumbleUpon Traffic Rush!

I just checked my Statcounter blog statistics as usual to see how many visitors have seen my blog today. Usually I get around 50 to 70 unique visitors per day, but today there was something different…

As I checked the stats, I immediately recognized the holy number of 300 unique visitors to my blog. 300 visitors within only 3 hours! “What the hell?” I hear me say. Ok, I was a bit amazed and first thought there must be something wrong with the stats. So I dugg deeper to see where the traffic came from and it turned out that it was mainly from StumbleUpon.

I had no conclusion about why so many people got referred from SU to my blog, usually I get only 5 to 10 visitors a day from StumbleUpon.

It did take some time until I realised that it must be because of my new domain name that I just bought some days ago. No, I won´t say it´s because of a Top-Level-Domain, but it was because someone re-discovered my blog on StumbleUpon. It sounds weird, but actually I have a brand-new blog in terms of my blog URL. I´ve removed the old blogspot.com part to have a single dot com domain. For SU this would look like I´m having a comletely new blog. So, someone discovered and stumbled it and for some reasons a real traffic rush began (and is still going on, I have new visitors every minute).

I don´t know the real reasons for that much traffic. I have heard from other people experiencing the same, but until today I thought I won´t ever see such amazing traffic stats because I never had it before. Anyway, I´m really happy about this nice extra “exposure” to the online world. It will hopefully help me in getting a bit more traffic in the long term and my “lost” rankings back :)

I´ll keep you updated if this traffic rush is going on for more than one day!

Bye bye,
